Our Story
From Humble Beginnings to a Thriving Community of Faith
A journey of faith, transformation, and God’s faithfulness that began with a simple vision and a passionate couple dedicated to spreading the Gospel in Lenawee County, Michigan.
1950: A Vision is Born
What started as a small storefront building in Adrian became the birthplace of Emanuel Pentecostal Church. With humble beginnings and big faith, a young woman’s passionate call to ministry sparked something powerful. Sister Nelly Barnet, Rev. Marvin Arnold and his wife, inspired by the Holy Spirit and a vision to reach the lost, began leading services filled with prayer, biblical teaching, and an unwavering belief that God could transform Adrian. Though modest in size, the congregation was mighty in spirit, a community committed to prayer and reaching people with the love of Jesus Christ.
1955: A Building, A Dream, A Foundation
By 1955, God’s faithfulness became undeniable. The Arnolds’ obedience and sacrifice led to the construction of a dedicated church building in Adrian.
With painted walls, tile floors, and completed Sunday School rooms, the new building stood as a testament to God’s blessing and the congregation’s perseverance.
Rev. Marvin Arnold and his wife Sister Arnold became catalysts for growth, their ministry expanding from the storefront into this new space. The church didn’t just have a building, it had a foundation built on faith, prayer, and the Holy Ghost’s leading.
1950s–1980s: Seasons of Growth & Harvest
Through decades of faithful ministry, the church became a beacon of hope in Adrian and throughout Lenawee County. Lives were transformed. Families were restored. The lost were found. God’s presence was evident in every service as hearts opened to the Gospel and the harvest of souls began to multiply. What began as one small storefront grew into a thriving community that drew people seeking spiritual renewal and purpose. The church’s influence expanded through outreach, fellowship, and unwavering commitment to biblical truth.
